Broadband users in Countesthorpe like many villages suffer very slow broadband speeds which, if you are a broadband user here you will be experiencing and getting increasingly frustrated. Recently BT ran a campaign to try to see which rural areas would use increased broadband speeds the most and hence experience some of the new facilities offered by increased speeds.
Although that campaign has now ended BT have said they will consider laying new cables capable of carrying fast broadband to villages if there is enough support from village users. It’s thought many Countesthorpe residents believed that campaign only applied to BT broadband users which is not true.
In fact ALL Countesthorpe broadband users have their data sent down BT phone lines regardless of who the broadband provider is.
Broadband is here for the long term and its use is becoming more integral to our lives. Isn’t it about time we residents made our feelings known and in doing so eventually begin to get better value for the money we spend on it?
Your Parish Council are now backing a project to try to alert BT to the potential our village offers broadband providers but each and every one of us who use broadband need to make their voice heard.
