Congratulations to the winners of the Festive Fronts Competition for 2023. 

A big thank you to everyone who took part in this year’s Festive Fronts Competition. The judges were overwhelmed with the amazing displays as it was clear that so much work and thought had gone into them. Each entry had their own unique and imaginative theme. We are so pleased that people took part and are appreciative of every entry - which made it all the more difficult to pick out a winner. There was a mixture of festive lights and some hard work gone in to making handmade window decorations. We are delighted to announce that the winner of the residential category is on Wheatlands Drive with a theme of ‘Wonderland’ and the winner of the commercial category is Amaryllis Hair on Wigston Street with a theme of ‘Magical’. The judges were impressed by the level of detail in the displays, however, they are grateful for all entries for brightening up the village. Many congratulations to everyone. Below are the winning entries. We will post some more pictures on Monday of some of the other entries. We hope everyone will join in again next year. It was lovely when the judges were out and about to see families out enjoying all the displays in the village. 

The Winning Entries are:- Residential - Ashton at Broadfield Way and Commercial Entry - Amaryllis Hairdressers, Wigston Street.  Many congratulations.  

This year we are planning a ‘Festive Fronts’ competition where homes and businesses/shops in Countesthorpe are invited to decorate the front of their property, whether garden or windows. There will be a small prize for the winning entry from each category but the important thing will be bringing some cheer to the village. Entry forms will be available from this website or you can email Joanne at manager@countesthorpeparishcouncil.co.uk. 

PS - Don’t worry if you don’t have festive lights – the choice of decoration and theme would be up to you.

Here is the ENTRY FORM for entering the Festive Fronts competition.  The form can be returned to us by email or dropped in at the Parish Council offices.  The closing date for sending back the form is 4th December and the judging will take place on 11th December. 

On the evening of Saturday 2nd December we are planning an event which will support the local Foodbank based in Countesthorpe.

We have six individual groups taking part touring the village collecting on their way. The Groups volunteering are the Countesthorpe Guides, Countesthorpe Cricket Club, Countesthorpe Academy Students, U3A Ukulele Group, and other volunteers, Councillors and Parish Council staff.

Each group will aim to cover as much of the village as possible, however if unfortunately we can’t get to your area, we will have a collection point the Church and also at the Village Hall after the event.

The groups set off at 6pm and you are invited to, either join them on the way, or you are most welcome to attend the Christmas light switch on at 7.30pm where we will have special visit from Santa to perform the light switch on.  We hope you will be able to join us in greeting the teams back from their tour round. 

After the light switch on refreshments and entertainment will be available within Church.

• You are welcome to join a group that will set off from the Village Hall, if you want to help collect donations. (we will not be knocking on doors) 
• If you would like to make a donation of an item to the Foodbank, we will be publishing the preferred items below from 1st November.
• Join us on route or just come along to St Andrew's Church churchyard for the light switch on at 7.30pm. 

The Lutterworth and Villages Foodbank has provided us with the list of items that are specifically needed for Countesthorpe.
