UPDATE ON LOCAL GOVERNMENT ORGANSIATION ROR LEICESTERSHIRE
The government has now given its initial responses to the submissions made by the three parties for the Local Government Reorganisation of Leicestershire. The same response was issued to all three, ie the County Council, the Districts and the City Council and has requested that they communicate with each other prior to submitting their final plans in November, and that each submit data on how the whole area of Leicestershire, Rutland and Leicester be affected by the proposals.
The Districts are now carrying out a public consultation on their submission and the links can be found on their Facebook Page
As yet, neither the County Council nor the City Council has yet to consult further (though the government has indicated that it would wish to see this as part of submissions).
Final submissions for proposals for restructuring need to be submitted to the government by 28th November 2025, and then the government will carry out a further consultation process. It is not clear if each party will consult any further should changes be made to their current proposal prior to submitting in November.
