Whetstone Pastures

Press Release from applicant 11th August 2025

The Parish Council is in receipt of the following press release from Communiti, on behalf of Tritax in relation to the Whetstone Pastures development:-

Local Organisations Urged to Help Shape the Future of Whetstone Pastures Garden Village.

Local community groups, charities, and voluntary organisations across South Leicestershire are being invited to play a vital role in shaping the future of a proposed new Garden Village at Whetstone Pastures.

Promoted by local landowners and supported by Tritax Big Box Developments, Whetstone Pastures Garden Village is a long-term vision for a sustainable, vibrant new community. The proposals aim to deliver thousands of new homes, jobs, and green infrastructure—creating a place, which future generations can be proud to call home.

A public consultation on the Concept Framework Plan is due to launch this September, giving residents and stakeholders another opportunity to help shape the Concept Framework Plan before it is submitted to Blaby District Council in support of the emerging Local Plan.

Now, ahead of the consultation, the project team is reaching out to the community including local organisations to ensure that all voices—especially those from traditionally under-represented groups—are heard in this next stage of engagement.

“We are committed to creating a community that reflects the diverse needs of South Leicestershire,” said Sinead Turnbull, Planning Director for the project.
“To do this, we’re asking everyone, including local organisations and minority groups, to help us reach groups that don’t always have a chance to take part in planning consultations or are under-represented.”

Organisations working with these communities are encouraged to get in touch to discuss how they can help shape inclusive engagement activities during the upcoming consultation which will take place throughout September and October.
The Concept Framework Plan has been developed in collaboration with Blaby District Council, Homes England, and other key partners. It draws on extensive technical studies and places strong emphasis on sustainable design, green infrastructure, and accessible services.
